Senior Medical Writers have responsibility for the scientific strategic direction and delivery of accurate editorial content across several accounts. Ensuring delivery of high-quality scientific content and providing internal leadership of editorial teams. They are the agency lead for scientific discussions with clients and external experts. As such, they drive the scientific strategy to inform tactical planning of accounts internally and with clients, including organic growth. A scientific lead for pitches and proposal presentations, with a passion for new business.

Our Senior Medical Writers need to be hands on, with a proven track record of successfully leading and coordinating the editorial quality and delivery of scientific content across several accounts – being responsible for content developed by themselves and other writers in the team. The successful candidate will act as senior scientific contact for the internal team as well as clients and external experts, using their experience to shape the scientific strategy and direction of a number of pharmaceutical products. This is an internal and external leadership role that requires a passion for quality and delivery.

A key part of this role is ensuring the scientific integrity and editorial quality of content developed across a number of accounts and disciplines (i.e. medical education, promotion, digital) through setting the standard for the internal team and mentoring and coaching of editorial team members to achieve this. We are an integrated agency and a successful candidate MUST share our passion for offering solutions beyond traditional medical education.

This role requires an excellent understanding of medical communications strategy, with the ability to craft and deliver medical education plans based on scientific and strategic understanding, and an interpretation of product attributes and data.

The successful candidate will not only be able to draw on their own experience to propose tried and tested solutions, but be open and willing to look for new ways of working. We always challenge ourselves to do things differently and not just repackage what has gone before, and we need our Writers to be enthusiastic about drawing on the experience afforded by a large agency to develop proposals that are truly innovative and stand out.

Internal responsibilities include line management, and candidates need to enjoy working with, managing and motivating a team at a variety of levels, actively participating in their training and development. Managing opposition without losing control or backing away from responsibility are vital. Candidates with experience suitable for Editorial Team Lead need to be able to plan and manage the editorial resourcing across several large accounts, coordinate the training and development of an editorial team and input into recruitment of new team members.
