Finance Assistant: Due to industry-leading levels of growth a commercially-minded Finance Assistant is required within the finance function of a of luxury marble, quartz and granite business.

Although some finance experience is highly preferred, we are willing to consider candidates without finance experience if they show a genuine interest in a long-term career and understand the basic accountancy principles. All applicants must be accurate and well-organised.

Applicants without experience must have strong A Levels or potentially a degree.

Further training will be given on SAGE 50 and there is an option to begin a funded AAT Level 2 course at a local college if relevant to the candidate.

The successful candidate will share an open plan office with the Finance Manager and Director and therefore needs to be self-motivated, polite, conscientious and completely understanding of confidentiality.


*Assist in managing the accounts inbox in a highly organised manner

*Print and enter all purchase ledger documents before entering onto SAGE

*Collect / manage all purchase order documents

*Collect / manage all delivery and good inwards documents

*Perform 3-way match of purchase invoice / purchase order and delivery note as appropriate

*Review discrepancies between these documents with managers, resolve any issues, seek to improve the processes to minimise recurrence of issues

*File archived paperwork, help to maintain a high quality of record keeping

*There is the opportunity for the right candidate to grow into a role whereby they take on other responsibilities helping them to grow and gain experience. These include SAGE posting of bank transactions, sales invoices, customer-contact, reporting and job-costing. The successful candidate will naturally become more exposed to these types tasks as they progress and learn more.

Skills & Experience:

*GCSE Mathematics, English and Science

*A Level Mathematics, Economics, Science (desirable)

*BSc Mathematics, Economics, Science (desirable)

*Intention to progress academically (Funding currently for AAT Level 2 only)

*High numeracy skills

*Good understanding of Microsoft Excel

*An understanding of basic accounting processes, accounts payable or receivable processes

*A background or interest in the construction industry is desirable

*Organised, attention to detail, uses initiative and keen to take on responsibility

*Reliable, hard-working, good attendance and punctuality

*Ability to deal with pressure

*Complete willingness to develop and grow
