What is Business Development?

Business Development is the heartbeat of PatSnap as an organization and is fundamental to the exciting, rapid-growth journey that PatSnap has been (and continues to be) on today. The Account Executives (AE’s) are responsible for selling PatSnap’s ever-growing portfolio of SaaS products into a multitude of different industry sectors. There are no parameters around companies that need to protect their IP, meaning that our solution can be sold globally into most verticals. AE's within the Business Development team have sold to companies like NASA, Ferrari and Walt Disney, and the opportunity to target the most innovative companies worldwide is limitless.

What can I expect to do?

You will have the exciting opportunity to exclusively build out an entire new market from the ground, focusing on selling PatSnap’s new API solution into the financial services sector. You’ll have the sole focus on this new area across the business and will be fundamental to its growth. Managing the full sales cycle from initial prospect through to close, you will articulate the value proposition and demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of your markets (TIer 1 investment banking, asset management, hedge fund firms) as well as the product portfolio (API data solution). You’ll have a great opportunity to progress a successful career in pure solution sales and make a real contribution to PatSnap’s quest towards global market leadership, by expanding our customer base into the financial arena. You’ll spend a large split of your time on-site in London’s financial district, as well as having the opportunity to grow a global customer base into other territories. You will be selling into the c-suite giving you the opportunity to have extremely credible, value-led conversations; meeting and exceeding set revenue quota targets and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for sales-based activities. You’ll use your strategic value selling methodology to close business, earning a healthy commission on the business you secure for PatSnap.

What would make me successful in this role?

You show the potential to articulate solutions and deliver business cases that resonate with Tier 1 financial services firms You will have a proven track record of meeting or exceeding new business sales quotas driven towards the financial services sector. You will be confident demonstrating and presenting to key stakeholders within these types of organizations. You’ll have significant closing experience, with excellent knowledge around contract negotiation and pricing. You’ll have proven experience engaging with individuals at C-Level and managing complex sales into large enterprises. What are the challenges?

As with any role within a fast-growing SaaS business you have to be able to flex to changing business priorities, so if you are adaptable and embrace change then you should thrive in this environment. Our structure is relatively flat and non-hierarchical and egos don't fly here so no job is too big or too small, we all get stuck in to make the business successful, so you better get ready to roll up your sleeves! Expansion is a major theme, so as you can expect we are facing new situations and market opportunities which we've not encountered previously, therefore these isn’t always someone's footsteps to follow, you will need to be able to work as a pioneer, carving the path and sharing your learnings with your colleagues.
