Castle Trust is an innovative consumer lending, mortgage and investment firm based in the City of London. We launched in October 2012, with the financial backing of J.C. Flowers & Co, which is a leading international private equity investor with assets under management of £5bn.

Castle Trust’s business model is unique. We gain exposure to a diversified range of credit and house price linked risks and we fund this exposure by issuing short to medium term investment products. The business is small, but experiencing rapid growth and this is a great opportunity for an ambitious candidate to step up and shape our approach to credit risk, building out a strong credit risk function over time.

Castle Trust acquired a new consumer lending business (Omni Capital Retail Finance) in early 2017 with very significant growth potential. The role holder will spearhead a significant step-change in the group’s credit analytics capability to facilitate well controlled growth. This will include developing a revised credit strategy and scorecard approach, producing group credit risk MI and supporting the group in developing further opportunities to diversify its credit footprint.

Responsibilities include:

Overseeing the development and monitoring of the new business, underwriting and fraud consumer lending areas of Castle Trust, ensuring the business operates within the agreed risk appetite Developing credit risk strategy and policy, tailoring the approach dependent on channel. Ensuring it is fit for purpose, complaint with regulations and driving the appropriate outcomes for customers and the business Developing fraud strategy and policy Overseeing the development and monitoring of credit scorecards (in-house and with 3rd parties) Developing effective credit risk MI, ensuring insightful, relevant and accurate information and commentary is provided Work with the Technology and Data teams to further enhance the data capabilities of the business Managing the specification, implementation and testing of credit risk strategy changes Supporting the business in its credit lifecycle value and risk analysis Participating in due diligence reviews of acquisition targets or prospective borrowers Requirements

Degree in a quantitative or finance subject. 3+ years experience of credit risk management and analytics within consumer lending Experience and detailed knowledge of UK CRAs Strong communicator with the capability to influence senior management and a range of other stakeholders The ideal candidate will have a collaborative approach, be good at problem solving and able to manage a range of stakeholders. Experience of managing analysts Desirable skills include: Experience of unsecured consumer lending underwriting, scorecards and / or credit reporting Experience of management information and commonly used risk metrics Experience of programming in SAS / SQL / VBA / R or other languages Experience of data aggregation, manipulation and usage Experience of managing 2nd line oversight, controls and information and governance protocols Benefits
