About usMrs Wordsmith is on a mission to revolutionise education and make kids fall in love with learning by bringing world class animation and gaming talent to the sector.

We are building a 3D interactive and animated game world Generation Alpha. Children aged 4-10 can navigate the world designed by our Hollywood artists and accelerate their vocabulary. You will have the opportunity to also work with a team of ML engineers from Cambridge and Benevolent AI to develop a word game engine that will enable us to pump out more exciting apps for all age groups.

About the roleWe are looking for a talented Senior Backend/Server Engineer to join our growing Digital Development team in London. The goal is to create highly scalable and resilient backend services built on cloud infrastructure to service the portfolio of Digital products that we are building. We take a huge amount of pride in what we do, focusing on technical quality and leveraging some of the latest technology and techniques.


Design, implement, deploy and manage scalable and high-availability backend services Collaborate closely with client-side engineering team and app designers to plan features Contribute to the full game development lifecycle from design, planning, implementation, deployment and live operations Troubleshoot and optimise live systems Explore and learning new technologies, and contributing to studio-wide best practises Requirements

Highly proficient with a modern backend stack - C#, Java, Ruby-on-Rails, Node.js or other. 5+ years of experience developing online games, apps, websites or other online services Experience or knowledge of building backend solutions for Push Notifications, Live Events, A/B Test Frameworks, Receipt/Payment verifications. Excellent communication skills Leadership capabilities and high initiative to provide solutions to stakeholders. Knowledge of the AWS suite (EC2, DynamoDB, SQL, Elasticsearch etc). Experience building and deploying applications to the AWS platforms An understanding of cloud computing and scalable software Familiarity with good development practices (source control, automated testing) Passion; for gaming or online services in general. We're looking for someone who genuinely cares about the quality of the work they produce. It would also be great if you have:

An understanding of the techniques used for building high performance, scalable software Knowledge of Unity, Android or iPhone development Familiarity with continuous integration and automated build procedures Benefits
