Job Description - C# Software Engineer

As an C# engineer at Track24, you’ll work with a team that’s developed world class products that are used on a daily basis by some of the world’s biggest companies and organisations to help their staff stay safe. You’ll be involved in all aspects related to the device communication development, from the prototyping of ideas through to execution and scaling.

You will be exposed to all aspects of engineering for satellite and GSM communication from devices to and from our applications. Part of the role includes working with device providers to optimise and implement scripts to ensure the devices perform as expected as well as enhancing our internal device message handling capabilities. We have a culture of continuous improvement so you will be continuously researching new devices and methods of integration to ensure our architecture stays up to date and optimised.

Requirements

The ideal candidate

Preferably with formal computer science training, you’re adaptable and able to respond to new technologies and languages. You’re a craftsman and that means a lot to you, you take great care over all aspects of your work. You enjoy solving problems, are able to challenge others when you see a better way, and are able to acknowledge and learn from mistakes. You are self-motivated yet enjoy a collaborative team environment where everyone is focused on improving our clients’ experience. You enjoy research and development and will be motivated to push yourself and others to learn and reach a higher level. Experience in one or more device communication projects is mandatory. Experience in C#, Python would be beneficial. *No Recruiters or agencies please

Technologies we use:Our primary language used is C# and .NET with the option of changing in the future as we are very flexible to using languages most suitable for the task in hand. We use MySQL for our database. Device scripting is mainly done with the use of Lua. We’re really in to Geospatial technologies, particularly open source ones and are fans of OpenStreetMap, Mapbox, OpenLayers, Leaflet and QGIS, as well as open source routing technology. Git, Github.

Some of the achievements of the team you’re joining:Over the years, we’ve pushed our boundaries in terms of:

Handling data derived from satellite or mobile networked devices and displaying that data on client interfaces in near-real time. Developing mobile-first, offline-first, privacy-by-design location-based communication systems. Building out a mobile and web-based mapping interface that can display and analyse millions of points of data. Developing advanced driver and vehicle behaviour calculations derived from location and routing data. Making our clients’ lives easier—that’s really important to us.

Things we’re interested in for the future:Automation, artificial intelligence and machine learning are of interest to us, as is anything related to geospatial intelligence or machine-to-machine communications.

We’re looking to build our team in London, United Kingdom or Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
