About The Role

Electrical Fitter/Electrician - UK Power Networks ED1SON Alliance

Having worked with UK Power Networks for a number of years, Morrison Utility Services is a partner within the ED1SON Alliance, working collaboratively with Clancy Docwra, McNicholas, UK Power Networks and Wood. MUS delivers substation build and refurbishment works across the east of England including design, project management, cable installation, building construction, jointing, switchgear, bunding, commissioning, decommissioning and demolition.

Office locations are shared with UK Power Networks. The main hub office is in London with other offices at Bury St Edmunds, Colchester and Stevenage.

Candidate must live within UKPN EPN footprint i.e. Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire and North London.

Van and small tools will be provided.

Duties and Responsibilities

- Installation of ladder, tray and conduit for building services and control wiring

- Installation of lighting and power circuits within a conduit/trunking system

- Looming and termination of control cabling in switchgear and protection panels

- Installation and termination of SWA multicore cables

- Looming and termination of telecoms cabling for SCADA and control cabling

- Installation of earthing systems in a High Voltage Sub Station

- Installation of external plant such as 132kV/33kV Disconnectors and Bus Bar systems

Skills and Knowledge Requirements

- Understanding of LV/HV electrical Installations

- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

- Knowledge of current legislation relating to Health, Safety and Environment

- Ability to read and understand schematics and wiring diagrams

- Ability to deliver a high standard of work within programmed timescales

- Ability to work within a team environment


Candidates should preferably have the following qualifications:

- A recognised Electrical Apprenticeship

- Previous competencies with a Distribution Network Operator

- Current knowledge and training of BS7671:2018

- Experience of installing electrical installations in an industrial environment
