Have you ever thought about a nursing career? Do you have experience working with people who have a learning disability? Get in at the start of a brand new two-year Nursing Associate Apprenticeship. We have two apprenticeships available, one to be based in London and one in Bedfordshire/Hertfordshire. The scheme starts in June 2019.

You'll spend 20% of your time studying at London's South Bank University, and 23 weeks a year working as a Nursing Associate Apprentice at MacIntyre. The remaining 45 days will be spent on an external placement organised for you by the university. You will act as a health advisor across MacIntyre's services in your area, liaising with local GP surgeries and sharing your knowledge with other staff. You will have the rewarding experience of seeing people's health outcomes improve, and will help to develop wider health knowledge in your area.

In addition to your annual salary, MacIntyre will cover your university fees and your travel costs to university and external work placements. Upon the successful completion of your apprenticeship and an assessment, you will be awarded a Level Five Nursing Associate Foundation degree. We hope, of course, that you will wish to continue working with MacIntyre at the end of your apprenticeship.

You can find out much more about these opportunities from the Information Pack attached to this advertisement on the MacIntyre website.

About us

MacIntyre is a national charity supporting children, young people and adults who have a learning disability and/or autism. Many of the people we support have complex needs and additional health challenges. Our core belief is that everyone has potential, something to offer and a valuable contribution to make to their community.

We are delighted to have been invited to participate in this apprenticeship pilot project, being organised by VODG and Health Education England.

What we need from you

In addition to a commitment to study for two years, you will need GCSE grades C or above in Maths and English, or equivalent. You'll have at least two years' experience working with people who have a learning disability or autism.

You'll need to be a persuasive, engaging communicator, able to build relationships at different levels within MacIntyre, with external stakeholders and of course at university and your external placements, learning as you go and sharing that knowledge effectively. It probably goes without saying that you must be very well-organised!

You will need to be a driver with your own transport, in order to undertake the travel needed between different services.
