Job SummarySquare Enix is one of the most influential providers of digital entertainment content in the world. In London, Square Enix publishes and distributes entertainment content from the Square Enix Group in Europe and other PAL territories.

Our London Office, the European Corporate HQ for Square Enix, supports the business across a wide range of roles including; game development, Web Development, QA testing, game localisation, manufacturing, export and distribution, mobile game development, community, performance marketing, PR, finance, analytics and legal and probably a few others too.

Square Enix is looking for brilliant new talent to join the Business Systems and Finance team as a 9-12 month temporary placement ideally suited to those looking for a sandwich year in industry.

The Business Systems and Finance intern will primarily provide business systems support for the Square Enix user community and partners. Working closely with UBW (ERP) users in all offices. Additionally, the successful individual will provide support to various members of the Finance team while developing a broad ranging experience of the wider Finance function.

The successful candidate will have an appreciate for technology and developing knowledge of the systems that our business runs on, combined with an underlying basic knowledge and interest for working within the finance elements of the company.

Key Deliverables

Business Systems responsibilities

Provide day to day support to Business Systems Support Manager and Head of Business Systems.

Co-ordinate with BS and IT teams to help resolve 1st line issues for all Business System users.

Maintain system configuration documentation for Business Systems.

Work with Business Systems Support manager on training documentation.

Help create new reports & troubleshoot existing reporting for all offices.

Liaise with departments in the wider business, including Finance, Sales, IT, Ops and HR, on Business Systems related issues and developments.

Assist with development projects, system upgrades, updates and installing patches.

Finance responsibilities

Support Senior Financial Controller in completing tasks related to Financial Accounts.

Assist Accounting team in Financial Processing using the Business System.

Support the Tax Accountant in projects around Taxation.

Support the Finance Business Partner in areas of Financial Management and FP&A, to include providing reporting support to the wider business.

Head of Business Systems, Senior Financial Controller, Group Financial Controller, Business Systems Support Manager and other support departments within the group.Reports to

Knowledge and ExperienceEssentialStudying a Degree or Masters in Business/Finance Systems Management/Design or similar;


Studying a Degree or Masters in Finance or similar with strong background in IT.

Excellent Excel and Word skills


A very good grasp of accounting principles and sales concepts.

Knowledge of using ERP solutions.

Understanding of industry-standard service management methods such as ITIL and Prince2.

Aware of corporate IT products such as Agresso (UBW), JIRA, O365, SSMS.

Started or aware of accounting qualifications such as ACCA / CIMA (CBA).

Understanding of IT security policies and processes.

Understanding of interfacing systems using EDI or ETL.

Experience using MS SQL and running TSQL queries.

Competencies, Skills and Attributes


A logical, well organised but flexible approach with an attention to detail.

Strong ability to investigate and problem solve.

Feels at ease working with operational and finance staff, and able to deal sympathetically with their system-related issues.

Excellent written and oral communication skills: Is confident speaking on the phone and e-mailing to colleagues, 3rd party suppliers and contractors.

Pro-active approach to work: Constantly looking for ways to improve the system.

Able to work independently, as well as being a team player

DesirableAwareness of using different project management solutions, such as PRINCE 2.

Strong presentation skills.

Has a willingness to question existing set up and procedures, and to suggest improvements & efficiencies.

Strong interest in developing reports for different types of users.


Available for placement sandwich year in industry

Interest in gaming.

Wider interest in technology in general.

Eagerness to develop a broad ranging experience of a Business Systems and Finance function.
