Do you have an affinity to produce creative schemes of work that help to build the confidence of learners with low self-esteem?

Do you have the ability to gain and hold the interest of a group of hard to reach learners that have never fully engaged with education?

Do you have the tenacity to never give up on leaners that have given up on themselves?

PeoplePlus Justice are looking for a Motor Mechanics Trainer that can do all of the above and more with small groups of prisoners in HMP Onley.

At PeoplePlus we’re committed to tackling the underlying causes of offending and to transforming the lives of offenders. To achieve this we provide education, training and advice in prisons through the delivery of the Offender Learning and Skills Service (OLASS) and support ex-offenders in the community through our Warwickshire and West Mercia Community Rehabilitation Company (CRC).

As a Motor Mechanics Trainer within offender learning you can expect no two days to be the same and though at times challenge is incredibly rewarding. As a Motor Mechanics Trainer you have the opportunity to make a real difference to people live who may never had a genuine chance to learn and in turn help to break the cycle of reoffending by building confidence and self-worth. This is what our tutors have to say about working within a prison:

“Offender learning allows you to turn someone’s life around within a short period, providing them with new found knowledge and skills that enables them to access careers and roles they would never have dreamt of before. “

“Offender learning not only improves the lives of Offenders but those of the general public of whom may suffer the outcomes of crime if these lives were not improved through meaningful employment.”

“The vast majority of Offenders that engage with Education do so on a voluntary basis and want the opportunity to improve their lives and do not attend simply due to new Education laws where Learners attend college because they have to until their 18. “

The successful Motor Mechanics Trainer will be delivering up to Level two to groups of up to 12.

To be considered for the role you will need a level 3 or higher in a motor mechanics based qualification and a relevant teaching qualification (or the willingness to work towards one)

Please note that appointment is subject to a full enhanced DBS check and undertaking prison clearance.

Here at PeoplePlus reward means far more than just pay. Your total reward package as a PeoplePlus employee also includes a variety of different benefits as well as incentive and recognition schemes for our colleagues.

Our generous and competitive benefits package includes; enhanced annual leave of 25 days per annum for a full time role, a paid PeoplePlus Live Event Day each year, a paid Volunteering Day each year, a Pension, Life Insurance, an Employee Assistance Programme to access help and support 24 hours a day every day of the year, the opportunity to buy shares in the company through our Sharesave scheme, Refer a Friend reward scheme, Cycle to Work scheme and access to our employee benefits portal Perk box which gives you discounts on hundreds of products, services, shops and entertainment.
