Part time teacher/unqualified teacher required with autism experience

A specialist alternative provision is looking to recruit a teacher who is experienced in working with children who have autism. The school is based in Kidbrooke, and they require 1:1 tuition for a girl in year 7 who has been diagnosed with autism. The girl wants to learn, and has already proven capable of accessing the year 7 schemes of work from the National Curriculum, but she cannot cope with the social triggers of being in a classroom full of other students, hence the requirement for a 1:1 teacher.

As this is a part time role, it will be paid by hour and the rate will be £20 - £25 per hour, dependent on experience.

The role available:

* Is part time - the official hours are 09:30am - 11am for 4 mornings a week (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday) and will start as soon as possible

* There may be opportunity to pick up some extra hours if you are looking for more work (this can be negotiated with the school)

* You will be required to deliver some English and some maths lessons for her - the school has resources available to share with you, but you will be required to plan and prepare the lessons

* It is essential that you have worked with autism before - you will find that you need to help her social development and communication as well as her academic development

* This will last for at least 6 weeks if you work with her successfully

* The girl is very arty and likes fashion - it would be beneficial if you have interest in this area too

If you are interested in this role and would like to find out more, or apply for the position, contact Louise by sending your CV.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see /faqs for details.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.

Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance provided.
